How it's calculated
One cubic yard is exactly 27 cubic feet. One cubic meter is 35.31466672148859 cubic feet. One liter is one thousandth of a cubic meter.
The page converts through cubic feet. A zero volume stays zero in every unit.
Worked example
Twenty-seven cubic feet is 1 cubic yard, about 0.7646 cubic meters, and about 764.55 liters. One cubic yard entered directly returns the same set of numbers.
Assumptions
The international definitions above. No compaction, no swell, and no tons. A loose cubic yard and a compacted cubic yard are the same number on this page. The supplier's yield is a separate question.

Why is a cubic yard 27 cubic feet?
A yard is 3 feet on each edge, and 3 × 3 × 3 = 27.
Will this tell me how many tons of gravel?
No. Tons need a density. Use the gravel calculator and type tons per cubic yard.
Is a liter the same as a cubic foot?
No. A liter is much smaller. Twenty-seven cubic feet is about 765 liters.
Can I convert gallons?
Not on this form. A US gallon is 231 cubic inches. Convert to cubic feet first if you need to land in this table.
